Churnalism
27/1/19
This is a pejorative term for a form of journalism mainly involving the recycling of other content, such as pre-written press releases, into new content. It has increased over time as financial and time pressures have weighed heavily on the industry. It is often cited as a driver for the "dumbing-down" of news content, and for decreasing trust in the media.
Many of the examples of bad journalism over the years that have been put down to bias or meddling can often be put down to completely normal factors. The author and journalist Nick Davies has written about this subject in the past, most notably in his book Flat Earth News
