Deborah Hyde
28/12/19
The current editor in chief of the UK magazine, The Skeptic, Deborah is familiar to many in the skeptical community. She has twice appeared at the Skeptics on the Fringe for us and has spoken at QED and many other skeptics groups around the country. She has also worked in the movie industry as a makeup and costume designer as well as producing films.
In the 1990's she founded the blog Jourdemayne (still her twitter handle) and regularly writes about werewolves, vampires, witches, demons, ghosts and similar supernatural creatures - obviously from a skeptical standpoint. Her current website - http://deborahhyde.com/ - is a where she now blogs, releases videos and has a good list of resources about these and many other subjects that interest skeptics.
In 2011 she took over the editorship of The Skeptic Magazine and also promoted the Ockham Awards for serious achievements within different fields of sceptical activism. Each year these are announced at the QED Conference and Edinburgh Skeptics have been lucky enough to have won twice. In 2017, Deborah was elected as a fellow of the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry, in recognition of her work in skeptical media and events.
