Logical Fallacies
12/1/19
In philosophy bad arguments often result from the use of logical fallacies, or mistakes of logic that the proponent either has failed to understand or is maliciously using to unfairly overcome their opponent. They are often used in politics, advertising and propaganda.
There are many different types such as Appeal to Authority, Straw Man, Slippery Slope, Circular argument and many more.
The use of a logical fallacy means that the proposed argument is rendered invalid (it may still be true, it's just that it doesn't necessarily follow from the premises).
