Mike Hall

13/9/19

Mike Hall is a software developer and current president of the Merseyside Skeptics Society (MSS). A constant presence in UK skepticism, Hall has shepherded Mersey Skeptics for over 10 years and has been a part of several high-profile skeptical campaigns - including the 1023 homeopathy awareness campaign. He is also part of the organising committee for QEDCon - the UK's largest skeptical conference.

Skeptics with a K - one of the podcasts MSS produces - is hosted by Hall and features news from around the world of science and skepticism. One of the topics Mike has done a deep dive on is the placebo effect and his analysis of many frequently cited placebo studies show they should be treated with some skepticism. He also brings many obscure topics to the show which at first glance may not be typical skeptical fodder but he always manages to make it interesting and thought provoking. Mike is also a huge Doctor Who fan, retaining an encyclopedic knowledge of the show - one of the first events he ever organised, long before QEDCon, was a UK Doctor Who conference.

Legend has it that Mike has a rotating stock of 7 identical suits and ties - one for every day of the week. This, however, has still not been proven.
