Rusty Razor
15/5/19
The Rusty Razor is the annual award for pseudoscience presented at the QEDCON skeptical conference in Manchester. Part of The Skeptic Magazine UK’s larger suite of awards it’s usually awarded to the pseudoscience that had the biggest “impact” (probably for worse) or was the worst example of bad science during the previous year.
The award is relatively new and the two winners so far of the award are “Dr” Andrew Wakefield for his damaging MMR vaccine stance, Gwyneth Paltrow for founding her company GOOP. The category is a firm favourite already despite its short life and there is usually a decent amount of media coverage surrounding it, including those bastions of journalistic integrity Fox News & The Daily Mail, which is a pretty strong win for skeptical PR.
